The School is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer with experience and expertise in Aircraft systems, and one or more of the following areas: • Aircraft design. • Aircraft manufacturing. • Pilot studies. • Aircraft simulation and/or testing. • Avionics. • Systems engineering and management We are particularly interested in: • Candidates that are active pilots and have, or are working towards, a general or commercial license. • Candidates who have a strong industry background in the areas of interest. Main duties and responsibilities To undertake teaching and assessment in engineering modules, at undergraduate and postgraduate level, in Aerospace Engineering and where appropriate in support of subjects elsewhere in the School. You will be required to support learning through the development of course materials, including online content, as well as undertaking necessary administrative, tutorial and laboratory activities in addition to supervising undergraduate and postgraduate projects. You will be required to engage in research and commercial consultancy activity in manufacturing processes; the role also includes the building of partnerships with external organisations for the purpose of sponsorship and knowledge transfer activities. You may also contribute to our Mechanical Engineering, and Automotive Engineering programmes. Skills and experience required The appointee will have sufficient expertise and experience to be able to contribute to the teaching of Bachelors and Masters degree programmes in Aerospace Engineering, including topics as listed above. Experience of working in Aerospace Engineering within Higher Education or of working in the Aerospace industry sector is desirable for the lecturer (UH7) role but essential for Senior Lecturer (UH8). Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential requirements for this role. Your Skills and Experience • Proven experience and knowledge of space systems. • Knowledge of V-cycle, product development, V&amp;V, and change management process. • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering theory and processes and being able to adapt existing approaches and define new ones. • Knowledge and experience of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML. • Knowledge and experience of Space Simulators. • Knowledge and experience of MATLAB, Python, MS Excel, and IBM Rational DOORS. • Proficient in MS Office and Google Suite. • Comfortable handling ambiguity &amp; uncertainty. • Knowledge of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, and chemical propulsion would be an advantage. • Knowledge and experience of Radiometry, Climate Measurements, and Hyperspectral Imaging would be an advantage. Your Security Clearance To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.
