Location: Gatwick / Hybrid (Minimum 2 days a week in office expectation )

The Role

You will support the development and delivery of the CAA's Airspace Modernisation which will include working closely with government and industry representatives to interpret and implement public policy, in addition to developing new guidance and processes.

The role supports the Airspace Modernisation Development Team in developing high-quality publications and communications, and you will build, grow, and lead internal and external stakeholder relationships to enable key outcomes to be delivered and to ensure the delivery of approvals and completion of key administrative accountabilities.

Core Accountabilities
  • Support the development of policy and plans across a range of airspace and Air Traffic Management issues.
  • Undertake research tasks, draft briefings, and material for internal or external audiences.
  • Undertake tasks in support of CAA consultations including obtaining publication approvals, consultation website management, and response analysis.
  • Build, grow and lead internal and external relationships, influencing where necessary to enable key outcomes to be delivered in a timely manner.
  • Own and solve problems ensuring these are well considered and evidence based.
  • Ensure CAA publications and communications meet template and accessibility standards.
  • Adhere to relevant quality management procedures including managing documents using SharePoint.
  • Organise meetings, compile, check and issue meeting minutes and track actions.
Essential Criteria
  • Experienced or qualified in policy development and research.
  • Practical experience of working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary or multi-agency groups.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues to different audiences, with a particular emphasis on excellent written communication skills, with experience in drafting quality documents and briefing material.
  • Ability to build, influence and manage relationships.
  • Flexible and adaptable mindset with evidence of delivery in dynamic and changing environments.
  • Initiative-taking, pro-active with excellent organisational skills.
Desirable requirements
  • Experience or a keen interest in aviation and aerospace sector.
  • Awareness or understanding of regulatory process.
  • Experience or knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Knowledge or insight of strategic or operational planning.
Additional Security Information: For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. Relocation & Property: The CAA will be relocating from Aviation House (Our Gatwick Office) to new premises in a few years' time. Our move is driven by strategic, operational, and environmental considerations. We will be moving to a new local home, up to a 15-mile radius of Aviation House, to minimise disruption for our valued colleagues and customers. We are now working with colleagues and visitors to understand what we need in our new office before we start our property search. We will sell Aviation House and land, vacate the site, and move to new premises, but we do not expect to move before 2028
