Read more about us below:

ch-aviation is a company that provides accurate data and news on the commercial airline industry. Our News team currently has five team members that work from various locations (Austria, Lithuania, Greece, Mexico, Portugal, Serbia, and South Africa) across the globe.

As such, we are now looking for a full-time aviation journalist with mother-tongue-level knowledge of English who lives in Asia or Oceania to be employed on a long-term contractor basis.

Job Description

Given our push to enhance our coverage of the global aviation market, we are currently looking for an aviation journalist with experience writing in English remotely, based in the Asia-Pacific region.

As a journalist, part of your job will involve researching and chasing down leads you come across via the various news articles and regulatory documents that land on your desk from around the world on a daily basis. You will be responsible for using the leads, information, and sources to build up articles that are suited to an English-speaking B2B audience.

For this position, aviation industry knowledge and general business journalism knowledge is a big plus, but not necessary.

As journalist, you can expect to write articles covering topics such as aircraft transactions, wet-lease and charter contracts, and general business model developments. Knowledge of aircraft types, aviation terminology, regulations, and legal frameworks is therefore a big plus, but is not necessary.

This job will also require you to build and maintain relationships with people from across the world who will then help you in corroborating stories as well as breaking news. Therefore, you must be willing to proactively engage people either via email, telephone or even in person in order to foster these ties.

Aside from a disciplined, analytically oriented mindset, you must also be able to work within the established writing style guide, within set timeframes, and cooperate with the editorial team to provide high-quality content. A strong sense of global geo-political events is a must to ensure you can situate airline industry events within a broader context.

Given that it is a remote-based position, the job also requires a person capable of working independently and coordinating with a team over remote communications tools. While the initial training and some further recurrent guidance will be provided in person, subsequent supervision and mentoring will be remote and flexible.

Given the nature of our work, a strong passion for and background knowledge of civil aviation is desirable, although not required.

The ideal candidate will have experience in journalism and some knowledge of the civil and/or business aviation world. They will also have several verifiable unedited pieces, in English, for reference.

Given the geographic scope of this position, you can expect to cover mainly, but not exclusively news from Asia and Oceania.

As a journalist, you can expect promotion opportunities to the roles of senior journalist or editor.
