Job Description
The Chief Engineer - Test & Verification is a senior technical role, responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of testing and verification activities to ensure the functionality, performance, and reliability of complex systems and products.
Main responsibilities of this role will comprise:
- Development and implementation of comprehensive test and verification tasks.
- Definition testing frameworks, processes, and methodologies, incorporating best practices.
- Create and manage test schedules, resource plans, and budgets to meet projects timelines.
- Ensure systems and components are verified against design specifications and industry standards.
- Oversee hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), software-in-the-loop (SIL), and system-level testing activities, as applicable.
- Validate the integration and compatibility of subsystems into fully functioning systems.
- Ensure all verification activities meet applicable regulatory and certification standards (e.g., EASA).
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and certification authorities to document and support compliance efforts.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and integrate them into verification processes.
- Build cross-functional collaboration with design, systems, and manufacturing teams to identify potential verification challenges early.
- Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the test organization.
- Represent the organization at technical reviews, customer meetings, and industry conferences.
- Provide feedback to design teams to optimize products for testability and reliability.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced degrees or certifications in test engineering, systems engineering, or project management are highly desirable.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in testing, verification, or validation engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience with complex system-level verification processes in industries such as aerospace.
- In-depth knowledge of verification processes for both hardware and software systems.
- Expertise in testing and verification tools, such as MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and the V-model approach to product development.
- Familiarity with testing environments, including thermal, vibration, and EMI/EMC testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
