Job Description

What will you be doing?

ALTEN UK is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in support of a major aerospace programme focused on modification and maintenance activities for commercial aircraft structures. This role is critical to ensuring the structural integrity and compliance of aircraft as they undergo production and in-service updates.

Project Scope:
You'll be working on a long-term project with one of ALTEN's key aerospace clients, supporting the aircraft concessions team. This team is responsible for assessing and resolving structural non-conformities that arise during manufacturing and assembly of the aircraft fuselage and structural components. You will play a key role in updating and modifying detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CATIA V5, with a particular focus on sheet metal parts and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessing and implementing concessions related to structural deviations
  • Producing and modifying engineering drawings to reflect necessary changes
  • Working within a team of engineers to support the design office and manufacturing operations
  • Creating solutions that comply with aerospace design and certification standards
  • Using CATIA V5 for 3D model updates and 2D drawing amendments
Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with concession management or concessions design support in aerospace
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal design principles and aircraft structures
  • Proficient in CATIA V5
  • Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and modification processes
  • UK Eyes Only - due to the nature of the project, you must be a British citizen or eligible for UK Security Clearance
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is required
