Doncaster Sheffield Airport is preparing to relaunch, in preparation for this we are seeking to appoint a Senior Air Traffic Services Assistant to be part of new and exciting team who will be involved in helping the airport to open and grow.
This is a rare opportunity to be part of the leadership team for the department whilst maintaining operational capability working directly alongside experienced Tower and Radar controllers at Doncaster Sheffield Airport. As part of the leadership team for the you will take on a vital role in developing and maintaining the ANSP operational, safety, compliance regulatory and business requirements.
About the Role
The Senior Air Traffic Services Assistant is accountable to the Head of Air Traffic Services for the efficient management and training of ATSAs, maintaining standards and competence, whilst adhering to all statutory and regulatory requirements. In addition to the above the Senior ATSA will be a qualified ATS providing operational support across the Air Traffic Services team to deliver a safe and efficient service for all air traffic in and out of Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA). Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including SARG and the CAA, relaying information, prioritising tasks and coordinating flight schedules and messages to relevant parties so they are aware of changes and updates that may affect airspace in a timely manner.
Key responsibilities include:
The successful candidate will have recent experience as a Senior Air Traffic Services Assistant or have appropriate experience as an Air Traffic Services Assistant.
You will have a passion for aviation and a desire to be part of and help develop the Air Traffic Control team. Strong communication skills are essential with ability to make decisions and multitask in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Key responsibilities include:
- Manage and develop a team of ATSAs
- To liaise with those Airport Departments which are affected by ATSA duties.
- Facilitation of Meteorological services, including annual Meteorological Office Inspection and ensuring all ATC personnel achieve the required competency standards.
- Met examiner for all ATC personnel ensuring that all required standards are being achieved, and ensuring that the meteorological information archive system is appropriately managed.
- The management of ATSAs training, including initial validation and annual competency, in accordance with the ATSA manual.
- The management of ATCOs training in ATSA duties, for periods when an ATSA is not available, in the use of Airport flight information software, flight planning and meteorological systems, completion of NOTAMs and SNOWTAMS, and any other ATSA tasks they may be required to perform.
- Maintenance and input of information to the Airport flight information software and systems, and being an active member of the user group.
- To represent the department in various meetings, including the safety management team on ATC related issues.
- To provide relevant Managers with accurate; daily and monthly ATC statistics, thus contributing to corporate reports.
