We are currently looking for a highly experienced and disciplined Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical, Structures or Avionics) to join our team in Melbourne, VIC. Your role In this role, your key responsibilities will include: <ul> <li>Dismantling, inspecting, testing, repairing and reassembling aircraft engines, ancillary components, accessories, and electrical systems;</li> <li>Conducting routine pre-flight checks and inspections of engines and equipment;</li> <li>Maintaining thorough records of actions taken; </li> <li>Assembling components, parts and subassemblies of aircraft engines and equipment, and;</li> <li>Testing, maintaining, replacing, and upgrading aircraft safety equipment.</li> </ul> The essential requirements <ul> <li>2+ years experience on Dash 8 Q200, Q300 and Q400 aircraft (or similar type, e.g. turboprop aircraft);</li> <li>Trade Certificate IV (Mechanical), (Structures) or (Avionics);</li> <li>Highly skilled and competent in aircraft mechanical system troubleshooting, repair and installation of mechanical components.</li> <li>Strong team player;</li> <li>Ability to follow supervisory direction;</li> <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;</li> <li>Consistent positive and proactive attitude;</li> <li>Passion for safe work practices;</li> <li>Valid work visa;</li> <li>Red ASIC card (or ability to obtain); and,</li> <li>Current Australian Driver's licence.</li> </ul> Shifts will be primarily a rotating shift roster that includes both day and night shift. Key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to: <ul><li>Planning and conducting aviation audits and assessing operator safety for SGS Aviation clients.</li><li>Providing technical and commercial aviation advice.</li><li>Preparing written audit and project reports with recommendations for the conduct and continuous improvement of client aviation activities.</li><li>Following-up and closing out issues raised in the course of their duties.</li><li>Maintaining professional contact and effective working relationships with clients.</li><li>Maintaining professional qualifications through company training and participation in SGS Aviation seminars where possible.</li><li>Discharging the administrative duties required for the efficient conduct of their position.</li></ul>Qualifications Candidates will be expected to demonstrate: <ul><li>Airline transport pilots license (for at least 8 years and accumulated over 2500 flight hours) with previous exposure to maintenance activities or Aircraft maintenance engineer license with previous exposure to operational areas.</li><li>Ideally,15 years' experience in the aviation industry including experience relevant to SGS Aviation's activities.</li><li>Successful completion of full Safety Management System training</li><li>Must have auditing experience and conducted 10 Aviation related audits within the last 4 years</li><li>Successful completion of a quality/safety (ISO approved) lead auditor course.</li><li>A solid understanding of CASA and ICAO regulations.</li><li>Experience in auditing aircraft operators (fixed or rotary wing), and inspecting aerodromes and offshore helidecks.</li><li>Advisors will on occasions be travelling offshore so a valid BOSIET training certificate will be required.</li><li>Holding BARS auditor qualifications/accreditation will be highly regarded.</li><li>RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) experience is preferable</li></ul>Additional Information WHY WORK FOR SGS?
