The Role
We are seeking a Junior UAS Pilot to join our expanding Inspection Operations team. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in drone surveying and aerial data capture.
You'll gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced pilots and survey professionals, developing your skills in UAS operations, inspection, and survey data collection.
With structured training and mentoring, you will progress towards becoming a fully qualified and independent UAS Surveyor within Plowman Craven.

You'll gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced pilots and survey professionals, developing your skills in UAS operations, inspection, and survey data collection.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the safe operation of UAS for aerial survey and inspection projects
- Support missions including topographic mapping, thermal surveys, photogrammetry, LiDAR capture, and infrastructure inspections
- Assist with flight planning and operational preparation
- Consider weather conditions, airspace restrictions, and project requirements
- Support preparation of risk assessments, flight plans, and site briefings
- Assist with site setup, equipment preparation, and safety checks
- Work closely with surveyors and project managers to ensure safe, efficient delivery
- Assist in collecting aerial imagery, video, and survey data
- Carry out routine pre- and post-flight inspections
- Assist with maintenance of UAS platforms and equipment
- Maintain logs and report technical issues
- Participate in risk assessments and safety briefings
We're looking for someone enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to learn, with a strong interest in drone technology and surveying.
- GVC (General Visual Line of Sight Certificate) or equivalent
- Minimum 30 flight hours across rotary and fixed-wing platforms
- Basic understanding of surveying, mapping, or geospatial technologies
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office)
