We are looking for an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Engineer with a background in UAS Prototyping, Flight Testing and Assurance to join our Assured Autonomous Systems team. We are developing novel autonomous systems for a better world. We combine advanced bespoke control systems and software with the latest in sensing and compute technologies aboard novel platform designs in the sub-25kg weight class.
Our team works closely with customers and users, ensuring we are solving real problems in a way that can be deployed in real situations. This means the systems we develop must be safe, reliable, and trustworthy. This is becoming ever more important as our prototypes become products. We are looking to grow our team with motivated people to continue to deliver transformational technology.
This is an opportunity to contribute as part of a complex multidisciplinary team working to develop and deliver UAS products with tangible real-world applications. The work combines development through design and flight testing, demonstration, and maturation.

Typical work includes:
- High-performance powertrain selection and integration into autonomous platforms to affect operational efficiency.
- CAD, 3D printing and CNC machining to integrate new sensors.
- Designing and conducting flight testing to support system verification and validation.
- PX4/Ardupilot log review to quantity performance and capture evidence thereof.
- Testing of bespoke autonomous functions, using PX4 and ROS2.
- Building a small fleet of prototype platforms to test and showcase to key stakeholders.
- Working with regulatory bodies to ensure safe and legal operation whilst supporting advancement of regulations
- Supporting continuous improvement of our ways of working to deliver more efficiently and safely.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:
- A degree in Aerospace Systems, Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field.
- 3+ years of experience working in UAS development.
- Good skillset in CAD (primarily SolidWorks) and rapid prototyping.
- Good understanding of UAS grade avionics and subsystems.
- UAS assembly skills, including soldering.
- Experience with PX4/Ardupilot development and debugging tools.
- Experience in formal flight testing procedures.
- UAS pilot experience, GVC qualified.
- Experience working with UAS regulatory bodies such as the CAA or MAA.
- Experience tuning PX4 flight controllers.
- Proficient in UAS with offboard/autonomous features.
- Familiarity with UAS grade communication systems.
- Problem solving skills.
- A willingness and an enthusiasm to learn new skills, and the freedom to act without close oversight.
- Experience of working as part of a team to deliver complex or multi-disciplinary projects, products, or systems.
- Readiness to address technical problems and contribute to our shared learning environment.
