Objectives of the Futures Fund Award categories

We believe in equal opportunities for all passionate individuals interested in aerospace. Our scholarship aims to widen career opportunities in aerospace and promote diversity within the sector. Our themes focus on increasing employability, providing essential funding, and fostering diversity. To find out more about the application cycle, including opening and closing dates, check our dedicated pages here.

All applicants must demonstrate financial need and a commitment to aerospace. Supporting documentation, such as admission or attendance confirmation, is required. References from professionals in the aerospace industry or academia are also necessary. One of the referees must be a Royal Aeronautical Society member. For the team award, referees are not mandatory. Find out more about completing the application form here

The Selection process

Once you have completed your application and submitted it, it will then be reviewed by a Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) member of staff who will check that you have submitted a completed application along with the relevant supporting documentation. If we require further information, you will be contacted by a member of staff. Once this has been reviewed, it will then be passed onto the Futures Awards Committee who will review the application and decide the outcome. All applicants will be notified regarding the outcome of their application.

Checklist for your application

Ensure your application aligns with the fund's objectives. Present a convincing case, provide evidence of your commitment to aerospace, and clearly outline how the funds will be used. A thorough breakdown of costs and details of other funding sources are crucial.

Post-award report

Successful candidates must submit a report within six months of completing the award, highlighting their achievements and the scholarship's impact.

The RAeS Futures Scholarship Programme has not only helped us empower these talented young minds but has also contributed significantly to the realisation of our mission to inspire and develop the next generation of UK engineers.
