Requirements and Description
Role Summary:
- The Aviation Security Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of the airport environment. This position oversees daily security operations, ensures compliance with aviation security regulations, and leads a team of Aviation Security Officers in identifying and responding to potential threats. The supervisor is responsible for coordinating screening activities, managing incidents, and working closely with airport management and law enforcement partners to uphold the highest standards of security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Supervise, support, and motivate Aviation Security Officers during daily operations.
- Provide on-the-job coaching, guidance, and performance feedback.
- Ensure staff compliance with security procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with scheduling, task allocation, and shift coordination.
- Lead briefings and debriefings to communicate operational updates and expectations.
- Oversee airside and landside security operations in accordance with site assignment instructions.
- Ensure all security operations comply with NASP, CAA/FAA and other governing body regulations, and Local airport security policies.
- Ensure officers are effectively screening passengers, baggage, and vehicles, and operating security equipment such as X-ray machines, metal detectors, and explosive detection systems.
- Monitor CCTV systems and respond to suspicious activity or security breaches as required.
- Validate airside passes and challenge individuals where necessary.
- Conduct and supervise airside and perimeter patrols.
- Act as the first point of escalation for incidents involving suspicious packages, unauthorised persons, or security breaches..
- Liaise with the Airport Security Manager, Police, and other emergency services.
- Ensure accurate completion of incident reports, daily occurrence logs, and other required documentation.
- Provide professional assistance, directions, and information to passengers and visitors.
- Support airside escorts for vehicles and pedestrians as required.
- Maintain a visible and reassuring presence throughout the airport.
- Uphold a zero-tolerance approach to health and safety non-compliance.
- Ensure all officers follow NASP (National Aviation Security Programme) requirements.
- Assist with on-site NASP flight screening and ensure standards are consistently met.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) clearance.
- Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Previous experience in aviation security or a similar supervisory role is highly desirable.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Strong English language skills.
- Successful completion of all required aviation security training courses and airside driving tests.
