Satellite AIT Engineer

Your Role We are looking for a skilled Thermal Engineer with experience in spacecraft thermal management at both the subsystem and satellite level. You'll work closely with a cross-functional team-including mechanical, propulsion, electronics, and mission planning-to ensure reliable thermal performance of our satellite throughout all mission phases: from launch to operation in orbit and end-of-life, with temperatures exceeding 200°C. You should be capable of delivering a thermal control system from scratch and taking full ownership of it, ensuring the success of our mission. As part of the investment into lunar exploration, European Space Agency (ESA) created the Moonlight programme - a private-public partnership. Moonlight will develop new communications and navigation capabilities and services that will be provided to missions on and around the Moon through the launch of dedicated infrastructure. Viasat is entering the programme as the design authority for the communications service, responsible to design and procurement of the space segment, ground segment and user infrastructure to provide communications services by the end of the decade. Working closely with the spacecraft manufacturer at their facility, you will be required to join a team responsible for the procurement of the satellites. Your role will be to supervise the Contractor, to ensure that the design, engineering, manufacturing and testing of the spacecraft bus are of the required quality standard, within specifications and delivered in the planned time frame. Your main responsibility will be the spacecraft platform. The day-to-day - Integrate with the contractor teams, and coordinate their efforts to procure the satellite Platform - Ensure contract requirements are flown down to subcontractors, subsystem and system requirements - Support sub-system design reviews, test activities, data reviews, anomaly investigations and resolutions - With main focus on the satellite bus support system design reviews, test activities, data reviews, anomaly investigations and resolutions - Supervise the progress of the sub-vendor and act as point contact for all technical matters. - Report issues and contractual conflicts affecting satisfactory problem resolution - Organise and record all the Platform documentation on a shared documentation system - Advise Satellite Operations on general and specific operating procedures, and ensure safe operation of the satellites at all times - Analyse all satellite malfunctions and anomalous behaviour. Support the liaison with the satellite supplier and other parties as necessary to complete the analysis including root cause identification. Chief Satellite Systems Engineer

The company is seeking a talented and experienced Satellite Systems Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a Satellite Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and testing of cutting-edge satellite systems, contributing to the company's mission of pushing the boundaries of space exploration. Responsibilities of the Satellite Systems Engineer: - Prepare test procedures, write and debug test sequences for satellite system testing during ambient and environmental test campaigns. - Develop, debug, and execute complex test sequences on flight spacecraft and test benches. - Provide first-line support to the test operations team and support non-conformance reviews in a technical capacity. - Write test reports and support test reviews. - Interpret electrical and functional test requirements from test specifications and provide test solutions to meet the requirements. - Develop and debug Automatic Test procedures (ATP) using a bespoke high-level software language. - Support spacecraft systems functional and performance tests during environmental test, functional, and performance tests. Qualifications and Skills: - Minimum of a degree in an Electrical Engineering related discipline or relevant experience in a similar role for 5+ years. - Current hands-on experience of writing test sequences/scripts for execution of spacecraft tests from the Central Checkout System (CCS). - Knowledge of Elisa and JAVA would be an advantage. - Working knowledge of TMTC Databases and spacecraft systems and subsystem technical knowledge. - Programming and scripting experience, particularly writing and debugging Linux/Unix bash scripts. - Familiarity with various test equipment used for electrical measurements. - Awareness of 'cleanroom' disciplines and system testing &amp; Verification. - Willingness to support shifts/flexible working as required.
