This role involves conducting quality inspections, monitoring cleanliness and contamination standards, and ensuring on-time, on-cost delivery with a "right first time" approach for electrical and electronic components. The role will be based on-site at the customer's facility in Portsmouth. This is a contract position that has been deemed as inside IR35, the rate will be dependent on experience, seniority etc. however a permanent role can be discussed if preferred. Responsibilities <ul><li>Ensure conformity of production and test operations within the Cleanroom in accordance with Plans, Processes and Procedures for Space Equipment production, to approved quality standards in particular ECSS-Q-ST-70-08, ECSS-Q-ST-70-28 &amp; ECSS-Q-ST-70-38 or latest ECSS-Q-ST-70-61</li><li>Perform design and integrity verification inspections on Flight Hardware and Test set-up in accordance with the clients inspection criteria in addition to ECSS-Q-ST-70-08, 28 &amp; 38 or latest ECSS-Q-ST-70-61 to ensure that the build complies with established design and quality rules. </li><li>Responsible and accountable for the correct "as built as design" validation</li><li>Responsible for the environmental and H&amp;S control of assembly, integration &amp; test activities in accordance with the appropriate standards.</li><li>Flexible approach to working methods and patterns. Overtime and shift working will be required including nightshifts and weekends.</li><li>Pro-active role in maintaining a safe working environment and a clear commitment to health and safety in the workplace.</li><li>Willingness to accept change and actively support continuous improvement, Willing to develop skills as required in support of production (assembly, test, inspection and support) and implements these flexibly.</li><li>Escalate occurrences that prevent achievement of the production plan, including quality, cost and schedule impacts that cannot be resolved by Support engineering or Project Product Assurance Managers</li><li>Report anomalous or out of limits results</li><li>Attend training as directed by Line Manager in conjunction with training coordinator</li><li>Promote quality first mind-set through Production operations aimed at prevention of non-quality in the cleanroom.</li><li>Monitor and drive world class workmanship standards and clean room practices / processes</li><li>Identify and record non-conformities and investigate with manufacturing/support engineering, PA, M&amp;P / Process Owner</li><li>Support Root cause analysis of non-quality events with Project Quality to prevent further occurrence</li><li>Complete QVP verifications as directed by Equipment Quality Assurance group</li><li>Support specific operational tasks such as critical move, Ready for Test process activities and flight packing</li><li>Perform documentation checks, paperwork completion and approval of reworks as required.</li><li>Adhere to company and departmental Health and Safety and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) processes and procedures</li><li>Conform to company and departmental policies and procedure</li></ul>Qualifications <ul><li>Current ECSS certification to ECSS-Q-ST-70-08, ECSS-Q-ST-70-28 &amp; ECSS-Q-ST-70-38 or latest ECSS-Q-ST-70-61 at ESA approved training school</li><li>No less than 3 years experience of Engineering within the space, aerospace or military electronics engineering sector.</li><li>Experience and knowledge of high reliability electronics, surface mount assembly and RF products.</li><li>Familiar with production activities, including risk management, Non conformance management, Environmental cleanliness and ESD control.</li><li>General awareness of Manufacturing Systems (CAD, CAM, Manufacturing Execution System, SAP, Technical Publications, etc.) relevant to the business</li><li>Experienced in working within a matrix structure. Quality Inspector - Satellite Components

The Spacecraft Electronics Test Engineer is a member of the site hardware team, responsible for end to end delivery of the electronics and mechanical test aspects of the satellite hardware. In this role you will be responsible for qualification testing for performance verification and validation, product reliability testing and certification aspects of all satellite hardware. What You'll Do: <ul><li>Defining and executing test suites to exercise and characterise system and sub-system functionality and ensure all aspects are fully documented and tested.</li><li>Working closely with the electronics and mechanical design teams to debug any design issues.</li><li>Interface with manufacturing transfer teams to ensure successful transfer of production solutions.</li><li>Provide technical training for test procedures and equipment to production and supplier personnel.</li><li>Maintain changes and compliance of the test solution technical data packages including hardware &amp; software design, BoM and related procedures.</li><li>Use or develop competent knowledge in the required regulations applicable to the development of spacecrafts.</li><li>Experience performing pre-compliance radiated and conducted emissions testing against regulatory requirements.</li><li>Develop and execute test plans and procedures based on requirement specifications and detailed engineering design specifications and maintain traceability matrix.</li><li>Analyse and collate test results and create test reports suitable for further internal analysis and submission for regulatory bodies.</li><li>Responsible for ensuring the design complies with regulatory standards.</li><li>Engage in project meetings and effective collaboration with the hardware team.</li><li>Reporting on the progress of testing.</li><li>Be aware of project timelines and contribute to the testing aspect of the project plan with relevant tasks and estimated timescales.</li><li>Specification &amp; verification of design for test features to allow efficient production testing of new products.</li><li>Devising process improvements to the efficiency of test activities.</li></ul>Key Skills <ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or similar</li><li>Knowledge of analog and mixed signal components and concepts (ADC, filtering, decoupling, bias voltage/current generation, etc.) and signal integrity on PCB (matching, reflections, etc.)</li><li>Experience with using hardware platforms (e.g. processors/ FPGA/ CPLD) and communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, MIPI CSI, ETHERNET.</li><li>Working knowledge of automated test tools and scripting languages such as Python, Perl and C/C++ for lab equipment control and data analysis.</li><li>Requirement verification and validation for electro/opto/mechanical software-controlled systems.</li><li>Experience of electronic fault finding and ability to debug from the circuit diagram.</li><li>Familiar with Quality systems used to logging/recording all results.</li><li>Familiarity with test equipment such as spectrum analysers, logic analysers, network analysers, signal generators, power meters, oscilloscope etc.</li><li>Practical experience of building test systems and testing early stage prototypes and final products.</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills</li></ul>Preferred Skills: <ul><li>Automated hardware testing is desirable.</li><li>Experience building testing infrastructure for hardware (opto-electronics and electro-mechanical sub-system) and software rigs.</li><li>Experience testing for space systems</li><li>Experience using a clean room environment</li><li>Familiarity with environmental testing facilities like Temperature/Vacuum chambers, Vibration/Shock platforms etc.</li><li>Familiarity with external test houses for EMC/ ESD testing, environmental chambers etc.</li><li>Knowledge of regulatory standards</li></ul>Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in office.
