- Establish new UAV service offerings.
- Support the long-term growth of the survey business.
- Develop capability roadmaps aligned to business objectives.
- Represent SPL at industry forums, client meetings and technical events.

- Ensure compliance with SORA, PDRA and future regulatory frameworks.
- Lead planning and mobilisation of UAV projects.
- Manage pilot competency, training and currency.
- Coordinate resources, equipment and software requirements.
- Manage project delivery across multiple concurrent work banks.
- Ensure all projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.
- Support operational planning across rail possessions and infrastructure sites.
- Lead delivery of UAV LiDAR surveys.
- Lead delivery of UAV photogrammetry projects.
- Provide technical assurance for UAV-derived survey outputs.
- Develop standard operating procedures and technical methodologies.
- Integrate UAV outputs with Mobile Mapping and traditional survey techniques.
- Support development of digital twins, asset inspection and monitoring solutions.
- Support tender submissions and bid writing.
- Develop pricing models and service offerings.
- Engage directly with clients and stakeholders.
- Support framework submissions and renewals.
- Identify opportunities for revenue growth.
- Assist the Head of Surveying with business development activities.
- Develop UAV training programmes.
- Mentor and coach UAV pilots.
- Ensure competency management systems are maintained.
- Promote a positive safety culture.
- Support development of future survey specialists.
- Lead development of inspection services.
- Potentially manage confined-space UAV capability.
- Investigate automation and AI-based solutions.
- Drive innovation in data capture and processing workflows.
- Identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve productivity through technology adoption.
Essential
- Minimum 10 years UAV operational experience.
- Demonstrable experience managing commercial UAV operations.
- Experience operating within regulated industries.
- Extensive knowledge of UK UAV legislation.
- Experience of UAV LiDAR and photogrammetry projects.
- Experience managing teams and resources.
- Strong client-facing skills.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel throughout UK and Ireland.
- Experience as CAA Accountable Manager.
- Experience delivering Network Rail projects.
- Experience operating under PDRA and SORA frameworks.
- Experience of confined-space UAV operations.
- Experience of Mobile Mapping integration.
- Degree in Surveying, Engineering or related discipline.
